Many destinations include a break in the journey due to distance or flight schedules. Often times, you can spend more than a day exploring a layover city or just spend a few hours in an airport lounge. Frankfurt is one of my favorite layover cities, the food is excellent and the German Beer is streets ahead.

My Mom visited Dubai on layover to India, and she meet with a cousin as well as visit the Burj Khalifa! She had a blast!
